How to make a FiveM server
A FiveM server on FadeHost is a short setup: create the server, paste in your free Cfx.re key, and you are driving around with friends minutes later.
- 1
Create your server
Start the free 7-day trial (no credit card) or pick a plan — 2 GB covers the base resources; pick 4 GB or more if you plan a roleplay framework with many scripts. Then hit Create Server in the panel, choose FiveM and your region, and the server installs itself. Your server's address and port appear on the server page as soon as it's up.
- 2
Create your free Cfx.re license key
Sign in at portal.cfx.re, create a server key and paste it into the License Key field in your server's Settings, then restart. Every FiveM server needs its own key, and the console links you straight there until one is set.
- 3
Make it yours
Upload resources through the file manager or SFTP, add them to your configuration, and restart. The stock cfx-server-data layout is preinstalled, so frameworks and scripts drop into place.
- 4
Join the server
Open FiveM, press F8 and run connect with your server address and port, or find your server in the browser. Players need GTA V and the free FiveM client.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a license key?
Yes. Every FiveM server needs a key, and they are free: sign in at portal.cfx.re, create a server key, and paste it into your server's Settings. The console reminds you with a direct link until one is set.
How much RAM does a FiveM server need?
2 GB runs the base resources and small servers comfortably. Roleplay frameworks like ESX or QBCore with many scripts want 4 GB, and large public RP servers are happiest at 8 GB.
Can I install ESX, QBCore or custom scripts?
Yes. Upload resources through the file manager or SFTP and add them to your server configuration. The stock cfx-server-data resources are preinstalled, so the standard folder layout is already in place.
Do my players need anything special?
Players need GTA V on PC and the free FiveM client from fivem.net. They can join by IP and port or find your server in the FiveM browser once it is live.
Which server build do you run?
The recommended Cfx.re Linux build by default, refreshed automatically. You can pin a specific build from the version selector if a script needs it.
