Glitch shut down its hosting. Here is where the project goes.
Glitch ended project hosting on 8 July 2025 and keeps only URL redirects through the end of 2026. What Glitch gave you was a free Node.js app with a URL that anyone could open. That is what the free app tier here is.
Moving a Glitch project
- Get the code into a GitHub repository (Glitch projects exported to GitHub, or download the project and push it).
- Make sure package.json has a
startscript and the app listens onprocess.env.PORT, exactly as Glitch required. - Host an app: choose Web app, connect the repository, deploy. Turn on the web address; the app answers at https://name.fadehost.app with HTTPS.
- Secrets that lived in Glitch's .env go into the app's environment variables in the panel.
What is the same, what is different
| Glitch | FadeHost free app | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free | Free |
| Sleeping | Free projects slept after five minutes | The address sleeps when nobody opens it; the process itself keeps running |
| Editing | In the browser | In your editor, pushed to GitHub; a live console in the panel |
| Bots | Kept awake with pinger hacks | Bot processes never sleep, free tier included |
| Growing up | Boosted apps | $2 a month for 1 GB and an always-on address |
Static sites
A plain HTML project needs no server at all: host it as a static site and it is served from the edge with the same kind of address.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a browser editor like Glitch had?
No. Code lives in GitHub and deploys on push; the panel has a live console, logs and environment variables, not an editor.
Do my Glitch URLs keep working?
Glitch's redirects are its own; set them up there if you still can, and share the new address.
Does the free app sleep?
The free web address sleeps when nobody opens it and wakes on the next visit. Paid tiers keep it always on for $2 a month. Bot processes never sleep on any tier.
Which languages work?
Node.js and Python on the free tier; Go, Java, PHP, Ruby, Rust and .NET build on paid tiers.
