FadeHost Bridge vs playit.gg
playit.gg is the best known of these services: a global proxy that puts a public address in front of a game server on your own computer, with a free tier and a cheap premium tier.
Both answer the same question: how do friends reach a game server running on your own machine? Here is how the two compare, with playit.gg's own pages as the source for everything said about it.
How each one works
playit.gg runs an agent on your machine and a network of relays in front of it. Its own site describes the job as hosting game servers from your own computer and letting friends join from anywhere. Its free tier covers Minecraft Java and Bedrock, Simple Voice Chat and a list of other games; Premium, listed at $3 a month on its pricing page, adds regional tunnels, three .playit.plus domains, your own domain, more firewall rules, more ports and more agents.
Bridge does the same plumbing, and then keeps going, because the company behind the relay is a game host. The address gets a page friends can open, a screen that speaks when your machine is off, a door that checks Minecraft accounts, and a path to a server on our hardware when your PC stops being the right place to run the world.
Side by side
| FadeHost Bridge | playit.gg | |
|---|---|---|
| Public address with no port forwarding | Yes | Yes |
| A page your friends can open | A join page per address: online or not, who is playing, the address with a copy button | No page, an address |
| When your machine is off | A screen naming the server and who to ask, and a count of who tried | A connection error |
| A Discord ping when friends try while you are away | On Pro | No |
| A Minecraft login check in front of the server | Login protection on Pro: Microsoft logins walk through, other launchers register a password | Firewall rules by address, no account check |
| Hosting when the PC is not enough | The same account runs a hosted server, from free 2 GB to always on from $2.50 a month | Not a host |
| What the paid tier costs | $3 a month, $30 a year, and included with every paid FadeHost subscription | $3 a month for Premium |
| Support | A ticket to the people who run the relays, and Discord | Support pages and a community forum |

We could not read exact free-tier port and agent counts off playit.gg's own pages, so this page does not quote any. Nothing here depends on them.
Where the difference shows
On the plumbing the two are even. The difference is everything around the port: a page instead of a hostname, an explanation instead of a timeout, a door instead of an open name field, and a host on the other end of the same account.
- If you already pay us for anything, a server slot at $2.50 or a paid bot, Bridge Pro is included. Premium elsewhere is another $3 a month on top of what you spend on hosting.
- The offline screen exists because we run the waiting room our hosted servers use. A proxy with no game logic in it cannot answer a Minecraft client with a sentence.
- Login protection is the same door that stands in front of hosted servers here, so an offline-mode world on your PC is not open to anyone who learns the name.
- The world does not have to stay on your machine forever. Upload it to a server here and your friends are on our uplink instead of your upload; keeping the same address through that move is coming.
What Bridge costs
One address is free: two ports, 300 GB of traffic a month, and an address nobody connects to for 30 days is released. Bridge Pro is $3 a month or $30 a year and gives four addresses, eight ports each, a name you choose, your own domain, login protection and no traffic cap. Every paid FadeHost subscription includes Pro, down to a $2.50 server slot. The numbers are on the limits page.
Frequently asked questions
- Is FadeHost Bridge cheaper than playit.gg Premium?
- Both paid tiers are $3 a month. Bridge Pro is $30 a year if you pay yearly, and it is included with every paid FadeHost subscription, so a customer who already rents a $2.50 server slot pays nothing more for it. The free Bridge tier costs nothing and needs no card.
- Can I keep using the playit agent and host here as well?
- Yes, nothing stops you. Most people who move do it the other way around: they run Bridge next to the server while the world lives on their PC, then create a server here when they want it up at night.
- Do my friends have to install anything?
- No, with either service. They type an address in the Minecraft server list. On Bridge they can also open the join page, which shows whether the server is up before they try.
- What happens to my address if I stop paying?
- The free tier keeps one address. If a paid subscription ends, Pro features switch off, the first address keeps working and the extra ones stop; names are held for 30 days in case you come back.
Give your server a name
One address is free and the program takes a minute. When the PC stops being the right place for the world, the same account hosts it.
